Optimal Sports Performance and Chiropractic Care

Until recently, chiropractic was thought to be helpful only in cases of back pain, neck pain, headaches and other muscular and skeletal problems.

During the past few years, new studies have been conducted showing the benefits chiropractic has on athletic performance. With the growth of sports chiropractic, many athletic injuries have been treated successfully by chiropractic.

Renowned athletes such as Joe Montana, former quarterback for San Francisco 49ers, heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, track and field athletes Antonio McKay and Olympic Gold Medalist Alice Brown see chiropractors on a regular basis in order to maintain peak performance.

Chiropractors are specially trained doctors. They work primarily with the spine and muscular system to detect joint misalignments called subluxations that will interfere with the nerves and their signals. The end result is the body’s inability to function properly, leading to muscular imbalances, altering muscle tone and reducing flexibility.

Proper body balance is important in any activity in order to achieve maximum efficiency. Muscular imbalances lead to improper body mechanics which in turn lower performance. If left uncorrected, an imbalance most usually results in injury.

Spinal misalignments can be corrected by chiropractic adjustments. The proper muscular tone and balance will be restored. All this allows optimal conditions for the athlete to reach higher levels of performance and to achieve maximum benefits and efficiency from his or her activity.

    Chiro work is needed for all types of people not just athletes. It works too. Herniated my disc in 04 and lived with it for 2 years, within 4 months of treatment I was better.

  3. I agree with you that regular Chiropractic care will help with athletic performance, at the very least you will be more flexible. It probably also helps athletes not hurt them selves on the field because they are getting regualr stretching.

  4. that’s true chiropractic can help every one of us specially to the athletes because athletes are prone to injury.
